Is Peec AI right for a Shopify store? Peec, Profound, Otterly, AthenaHQ and Vizby compared on product-level fixes, store publishing and price.

Introduction

Peec AI is a good fit for a Shopify merchant who wants to measure how ChatGPT and other assistants talk about the brand, and since June 2026 it also tracks single products from your catalog. It tells you what to change, and your team makes the edits. If you want a tool that also writes the fix into the store, look at Vizby (now sold as Swap Discovery) on Shopify, or ecentic on Shopify and WooCommerce. For big-brand monitoring, look at Profound.

Every AI search tool shipped a shopping tab this year, which tells you where everyone thinks the money went. I think the tab matters less than the step after it. Somebody still has to open the product page and rewrite the materials field, and in a small store that person also answers the support inbox.

Fair caveat: I run ecentic, and it's on this list. I described every other tool from its own pricing and product pages, and I tried to say what each one is good at.

Last reviewed: 23 October 2026. Prices are the monthly price on each vendor's own pricing page that day, in US dollars.

What Peec AI does well for a Shopify store

What Peec AI does well for a Shopify store

Peec started as a brand tracker. You pick prompts, it asks the AI assistants every day, and it reports how often your brand shows up, in what position and next to whom. Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, 3 models of your choice and 1 project. Pro is $245 for 150 prompts, and Advanced is $495 for 350 [1]. Paying yearly takes 15% off.

The shopping part arrived on 17 June 2026 [2]. AI Shopping Analytics gives every product its own row: visibility, win rate (how often it's the first recommendation), position, and the price the assistant quotes next to your real catalog price [3]. To bring the catalog in, you paste your Shopify domain and Peec reads the public product feed, or you upload a CSV or a Google Merchant Center feed.

The price check is the feature I like most. An assistant quoting last season's price is a quiet way to lose a sale, and most merchants would never notice it.

Peec fits a marketing or SEO team that reports on AI search across brands and products, and agencies that run it for several clients.

Where Peec stops

Where Peec stops

Peec reads your catalog from the public storefront, so it has no access to change it. It ranks the product changes worth making [3]. When it says your moisturizer loses because answers compare on "fragrance-free", someone on your team edits the listing, the structured data and the feed.

With a content team, that's fine. In a three-person store, finding the gap is the easy half, and finding an afternoon to rewrite the listings is the hard one.

Profound: for big brands with a marketing team

Profound: for big brands with a marketing team

Profound's pricing page now has two plans. A free trial runs 50 prompts a day for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and everything after that is a custom Enterprise contract [4]. ChatGPT Shopping tracking is on Enterprise only, along with up to nine answer engines, API access and SSO.

For a brand that wants to know how it shows up across assistants, I think it's the deepest tool here, and its Agent Analytics tracks AI-referred traffic across your domains. The integrations it lists are CDNs, hosting and analytics, such as Cloudflare, Vercel and Google Analytics. Shopify isn't among them. I compared the two products in more detail in ecentic vs Profound.

Otterly AI: the cheapest way to watch

Otterly AI: the cheapest way to watch

Otterly Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts, checked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot [5]. On Lite, Gemini and Google AI Mode are $9 add-ons each and Claude is $29, so adding Claude doubles the bill. Standard is $189 for 100 prompts and adds API and MCP access.

Otterly works at the brand level: share of voice, sentiment, the sources AI cites, and an audit of your pages. Lite includes three recommendations a week. It suits a solo marketer who wants to see whether the brand shows up at all before spending more.

06

AthenaHQ: more models, plus writing help

AthenaHQ: more models, plus writing help

AthenaHQ has a free Essential plan with 300 credits, where one credit is one AI response, and a Starter plan at $295 a month with 3,600 credits across 11 models, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek included [6]. Starter comes with a content optimization agent, and the plan comparison lists Shopify and Webflow integrations.

Its e-commerce page says it tracks visibility per product as well as per brand, writes product descriptions for AI and attributes purchases to AI referrals [7]. I couldn't find on its own pages whether those descriptions go into Shopify for you or come back as text to paste, so ask on the demo. It suits a brand with the budget that wants wide model coverage and help with the writing.

07

Vizby, now Swap Discovery: the closest to a fix-it app

Vizby, now Swap Discovery: the closest to a fix-it app

Swap Commerce announced on 1 October 2026 that it had bought Vizby, whose technology now runs Swap Discovery [8]. On the Shopify App Store the app is listed as Swap Discovery, still by Vizby AI Ltd [9].

Apart from ecentic, it's the only tool here that says plainly it changes the store. It runs buyer prompts, builds an action plan (new content, a product or collection revision, FAQs, structured data), and you approve each change or let it apply them. The Business plan is $79 a month, or $758 a year, about $63 a month. You get a 7-day trial, 50 prompts per visibility test, ChatGPT and Gemini only, and 25 product audits a month. Claude needs the $499 Scale plan.

Twenty-five audits a month is plenty for a 60-product store. A 600-product catalog would take two years to get through on that plan, and the app is Shopify only.

Two questions the comparison pages skip

Two questions the comparison pages skip

The pages AI assistants cite for this question compare prompts, models and dashboards. I'd ask these before paying for any of the tools.

Do I pay if nothing sells?

Every plan above is a flat monthly fee priced by prompts or credits. That's a fair way to price a report. It also means the bill is the same in a month when AI assistants sent you no orders at all.

Can I see which products agents skip before I pay?

A dashboard trial shows you prompts and mentions. What a store owner wants first is a list of their own products that lost, and the reason each one lost.

Where ecentic fits, and where it doesn't

Where ecentic fits, and where it doesn't

That's what we built ecentic for. We have ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini compare your products with the competitors you name and pick one. When they pick the competitor, we show you why and write the fix, which goes to Shopify or WooCommerce when you click Apply. Nothing in the store changes before that click.

On those two questions: pay-as-you-go is free to start, needs no card, costs $0 until an agent drives a sale, and then charges 3% of orders that follow a visit from an AI assistant in the previous 7 days, capped at $500 a month [10]. It includes everything in Dominate. On a $120 order the fee is $3.60. If you'd rather have a flat bill, Compete is $14.90 a month for up to 100 products, Scale is $44.90 for up to 1,000 and Dominate is $149, none of them with a fee. The free Scan has the three assistants compare your top 10 products once, in about two minutes, and every paid plan can rescan at any time. On Shopify we also track the visits AI assistants send you, week over week.

Mind the tiers. The Win Rate Report is on every plan. One-click publishing is on pay-as-you-go, Scale and Dominate, and Compete gives you field-by-field fix suggestions to apply yourself. Google Merchant Center sync for Shopify is on Dominate and pay-as-you-go, and so is agent checkout setup. On WooCommerce that means a free plugin that lets agents search, fill a cart and check out through UCP (Google's standard for agent checkout). On Shopify it means checking the Merchant Center settings Google's agent checkout needs.

The trade-offs: we only support Shopify, WooCommerce and product feeds, and we're a newer company with one published pilot result. DUA Flavours (pilot, published with permission): visits from AI assistants and direct traffic rose 12% between April and July 2026 [11]. That's visits, not sales, and it's one store. And if your job is reporting brand share of voice across many models, Peec and AthenaHQ do that better than we do.

So, is Peec AI a good alternative for Shopify merchants?

So, is Peec AI a good alternative for Shopify merchants?

Yes, if your team wants to measure and has the hands to make the edits. By situation:

  • You report AI search results to a CMO across brands and products: Peec, or Profound if you're big enough for an Enterprise contract.
  • You want to watch cheaply before spending more: Otterly Lite.
  • You want wide model coverage and help with the writing: AthenaHQ.
  • You sell only on Shopify and want an app that applies content edits: Swap Discovery.
  • You want to know which products lose to a named competitor when ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini compare them, and to publish the fix to Shopify or WooCommerce in one click: ecentic.

For the wider market beyond Peec's alternatives, our guide to AI shopping agent optimization tools groups every tool by the job it does.

FAQ

FAQ

Does Peec AI work with WooCommerce?

Peec's launch post lists three ways to bring a catalog in: a Shopify storefront domain, a CSV in Peec's format, or a Google Merchant Center feed [3]. A WooCommerce store can use the CSV or a Merchant Center feed. It works, with an export step a Shopify store skips.

Is Peec AI cheaper than Profound?

On published prices, yes, because Peec shows its prices and Profound quotes Enterprise contracts after a sales call. Ask Profound for a quote on the number of prompts and answer engines you actually need before you compare.

Can these tools change my Shopify product pages for me?

Swap Discovery and ecentic write changes to the store, and both let you approve each one first. ecentic publishes a fix only when you click Apply, and it needs the Shopify app or a WooCommerce connection with write access before it can. Peec and Otterly recommend changes for your team to make, and for AthenaHQ it's worth asking whether its content agent publishes or hands you the text.

Do I need both a monitoring tool and an optimization tool?

Some teams run both: a tracker for the brand report and a fixer for the catalog. If you only pay for one, I'd pick by who will act on it. A report nobody has time to act on is a monthly invoice with charts.

How can I tell today whether AI agents skip my products?

Ask ChatGPT and Gemini the question your buyer would type, with a budget and a use in it, and see whether your product comes up. That's one prompt on two assistants, so treat it as a smoke test. A scan across many prompts and models tells you which products lose and what the agent read instead.
