AI visibility tools for online stores, split into tools that count AI mentions and tools that fix product data, with prices and a pick for each situation.

Introduction

AI visibility tools for an online store come in two kinds. Measuring tools such as Otterly, Peec AI, Profound, Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar and Scrunch count how often ChatGPT, Gemini and other assistants mention your brand or products. Changing tools such as Swap Discovery (formerly Vizby) and ecentic rewrite the product data those assistants read, so pick by what you're missing: the number or the fix.

Every SEO suite grew an AI visibility tab this year. Ahrefs now maps 509 million prompts people ask AI platforms [1], and somewhere in there is the one your buyer typed. I think a store owner needs a smaller number first: which of my products lost, to whom, and which field cost the sale.

Fair caveat: I run ecentic, which sits in the second group. Everything about the other tools comes from their own pricing and product pages, and I tried to say who each one fits.

Last reviewed: 27 October 2026. Prices are monthly, in US dollars, from each vendor's own page, checked between 23 and 27 October 2026.

Measuring and changing are two different jobs

Measuring and changing are two different jobs

A measuring tool runs your buyers' questions on a schedule and records whether you're named, in what position and which sites the answer cites. Someone on your team then does the editing. A changing tool starts from your catalog, works out what the assistant needed and didn't find, and writes to the title, description, structured data or feed.

In a store, assistants compare products on price, stock, sizes and shipping, and on Google AI Mode and Gemini in the US the shopper can buy inside the answer through UCP, Google's standard for agent checkout [2]. A mention gets you into the answer. The product data decides who gets the order.

Otterly is the cheapest way in. Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts, checked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Gemini as a $9 add-on [3]. It covers 65 countries and languages and audits your pages the way AI crawlers see them [4], but it doesn't import a catalog.

Peec AI is the strongest pure measurement option for a catalog. Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts on three models you choose [5]. Its AI Shopping Analytics reads your Shopify storefront, a CSV or a Merchant Center feed and gives each product its own row, with visibility, position and the price the assistant quotes [6].

Profound is built for large brands. A free trial runs 50 prompts a day for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. After that it's a custom Enterprise contract, which is where ChatGPT Shopping tracking sits [7].

Semrush sells AI Visibility from $99 a month per domain, billed annually, for 25 custom prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity [8].

Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks mentions, citations and AI share of voice on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, with Claude on its AI Visibility Index. Custom prompts start at $50 a month and the Index at $199 [1].

Scrunch covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta on every plan. Starter is $300 a month, or $250 billed annually, for 350 custom prompts [9]. It also lists AXP, which generates an AI-friendly version of your site.

AthenaHQ sits between the groups. Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits across 11 models, with a free Essential plan [10]. Its e-commerce page says it tracks visibility per product and writes product descriptions for AI [11]. I couldn't find whether those go into your store, so ask on the demo.

Swap Discovery, the Shopify app formerly sold as Vizby, runs buyer prompts and then edits product JSON-LD, product and collection copy and FAQs, which you approve or let it apply [12]. Business is $79 a month on ChatGPT and Gemini, and optimizes 20 products a month by its pricing page [13] or 25 product audits by its App Store listing [12]. It fits a Shopify-only store with a few dozen hero products, as I wrote in Vizby alternatives.

ecentic is the step after measuring. We have ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini compare your products with the competitors you name and pick one. The Win Rate Report, on every plan, shows which products lose and why, and we write the fix to the title, description and structured data. On pay-as-you-go, Scale and Dominate it goes to Shopify or WooCommerce when you click Apply. Compete gives you field-by-field fix suggestions to apply yourself.

The free Scan compares your top 10 products once, with no card. Pay-as-you-go costs $0 until an agent drives a sale, then 3% of AI-attributed orders (orders that follow a visit from an AI assistant in the previous 7 days), capped at $500 a month, with everything in Dominate. Compete is $14.90 a month for up to 100 products, Scale is $44.90 for up to 1,000 and Dominate is $149 [14]. Paid plans rescan any time, and on Shopify we track the visits AI assistants send you, week over week. Dominate and pay-as-you-go add Google Merchant Center sync for Shopify and agent checkout setup. On WooCommerce that's a free plugin that lets agents search, fill a cart and check out through UCP. On Shopify we check the Merchant Center settings Google's agent checkout needs.

The trade-offs: we don't do brand sentiment, citation tracking or prompt research, so we can't tell you how often an assistant mentions you in live answers. We cover three assistants, on Shopify, WooCommerce and product feeds. And we're newer, with one published pilot result: DUA Flavours (pilot, published with permission), where visits from AI assistants and direct traffic rose 12% between April and July 2026 [15]. That's visits, not sales.

Best platforms for tracking how often ChatGPT and Gemini mention my products

Best platforms for tracking how often ChatGPT and Gemini mention my products

The question is about products, and most trackers count the brand. For single products in real answers, Peec AI is the most direct fit: put ChatGPT and Gemini among your three Starter models, import the catalog, and each product gets its own row [5][6]. AthenaHQ says it tracks per product too, and Profound tracks ChatGPT Shopping on Enterprise.

Otterly, Semrush, Ahrefs and Scrunch can follow a product if you write a prompt for it. That works for ten hero products. For a few hundred it gets expensive, because every product costs prompts and every prompt runs on each engine you track.

ecentic doesn't count mentions in live answers. It asks which product the assistant picks when it compares yours with a named competitor's, and why. I think that's the number closest to a sale, since an answer names a few products and the shopper clicks one of them.

Otterly alternatives for ecommerce product optimization

Otterly alternatives for ecommerce product optimization

Otterly does a lot well: a low entry price, wide engine coverage and page audits. Where it stops for a store is the catalog. It doesn't import your products, and its fixes are recommendations your team makes by hand [4].

So the alternative depends on why you're leaving. For per-product numbers from real answers, Peec AI. For Claude and Meta on the entry plan, Scrunch. For edits applied to the store, Swap Discovery on Shopify, or ecentic on Shopify and WooCommerce. I compared the two line by line in ecentic vs Otterly, and Peec's options in Peec AI alternatives. To test any of them on your own products, GEO tools for product catalogs has a five-step trial.

Which tool for which situation

Which tool for which situation

Your situation Start with
You want to know whether AI mentions you at all, cheaply Otterly Lite
Your SEO team already pays for Semrush or Ahrefs Their AI visibility feature, before a new vendor
You want per-product numbers and have someone to edit listings Peec AI
You're a large brand reporting across many engines Profound or Scrunch
You sell only on Shopify and want an app to apply content edits Swap Discovery
You sell on Shopify or WooCommerce and want to fix the products that lose to a named competitor ecentic
You want to pay only when AI assistants send orders ecentic pay-as-you-go
You need sentiment, citations or PR reporting A measuring tool, not ecentic

If you can afford only one tool, ask who in your company will act on the report. If the honest answer is nobody this quarter, buy the fix first.

That's the job we built ecentic for. To see which of your products agents skip and why, run the free scan, or compare the plans on the pricing page.

FAQ

FAQ

How many prompts should a store track?

Start with one or two for each product category you sell, written the way a buyer asks, with a use and a budget in them. Twenty good prompts tell you more than two hundred variations of "best running shoes". Add prompts for a single product only when it's worth fixing.

Is there a free way to check whether ChatGPT and Gemini mention my products?

Ask them the question your buyer would ask, then ask again a few days later, because answers vary. For more than a smoke test, Profound and Scrunch have 7-day trials, AthenaHQ has a free Essential plan, and ecentic's free Scan compares your top 10 products with competitors once.

Does ecentic track brand mentions or citations?

No. ecentic has ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini compare your products with named competitors' products, shows why a product loses, and writes the fix. If you need mention counts, sentiment or citation sources, pair it with one of the measuring tools above.
